We've been to the 'Berry twice in a week, and have been able to entice cutts at about the 40 foot depth. Downrigging has been best for us, and silver/chrome produces 3 to 1 over anything else. We've worked schools over continually until 2 passes go without a fish, then move on to another point or bay. Flatfish, needlefish, kastmasters ... with a silver dodger has worked well. Bells just haven't been getting it done. I don't know if it's just over-saturation from wide use or what.
There sure are a lot of dead cutts floating belly up; and a lot of PowerBaiters fishing from anchored boats. On some you can see where their guts are coming out of their mouths, where someone has tried to remove a hook from their gullet after swallowing their bait. So
. What a waste! You'd think people would rather go elsewhere than to kill and throw back nice 20" cutts!
