Me an a friend went to Bear river tonight. We caught about 8 cats that were in the 12"-15" range. My friend also caught a carp. We were using worms fishing on the bottom.
We put the boat in at Corinne and went upstream about 1.5 miles and just fished along the way, looking for some shade from the sun. The river was a bit shallow near the boat ramp heading up stream for about 150 yards. We tried to stay in the channel but did hit the mud a few times with the prop.
Just thought I'd give a little report. Good luck all.

Thanks for the update John, sounds like a fun afternoon on the water. Did you find any deep holes in the area you fished? Have you fished the area downriver from Corinne lately? WH2

That was the first time I had fished the Bear in a boat and so I am not real familiar with the deeper holes. I don't have a fish finder to check the depth but I hope to have one soon. I did notice that the water was considerably lower than the high water mark from earlier this year. A few of the places we threw our anchor we were joking at how shallow the water was cause the anchor barely took any line before it hit bottom.
I have not went down stream but I may the next chance I get which I think will be next week. I am having a ton of fun in my little motor boat and I plan to hit lots of places I have not been to ever or in awhile.

I believe the marshes are going to do well this year. I would like to get out and shoot some ducks as well, but I don't always get to go out for ducks every year. I have a friend that goes out often and so I will hear the tales from him.

When I had my little boat I went up stream from Corinne once, about the same distance you did. The water got so shallow that I ended up pulling the boat up the last section to get to a deep hole. I have fished the lower section, below Corinne, a lot more and I found better areas to fish in that section. Since I bought my bigger boat I haven't fished Bear river but I'm thinking about giving it a try. Let us know how you do if you make it down the river, thanks. WH2
