Willard 8/8
#1
Fished Willard from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. Started out a little north of the island in 20 feet of water. Had a friend and his son with me. We used a deep diving raps and worm harnesses. Caught a catfish on the deep diver but as I was pulling the fish out I must have had a bad spot in my spiderwire. The line broke and my 12" kittie took my 6$ lure as a parting gift. Hopefully the catfish will shack the lure out and be ok.

My friends son showed us how to do it catching 3 kitties on the worm harness. My friend got skunked and I only had one more bite the whole night. We got the other kitties out in front of the feed lot. Saw a few people trolling and catching an occasional wiper. As usual I couldn't find a walleye.

We never saw a single boil or saw any "active" birds.

You sure have a hard time at Willard but I guess thats all a part of fishing and why it isn't called catching. Did you try trolling at 3mph? WH2

Because there were 3 of us in the boat and the ungster needed to be under the topper, I just used the electric trolling motor up front. That motor is under powerd for my boat so I'm only able to get about 1.5 to 2 mph out of it. I intend to go alone next time which will allow me to be more experimental. I'll use the gas engine so I can troll at a higher speed.

I went to the Ogden Sportsman warehouse today and found the $2.00 producers that somebody was talking about on another thread. I also bought 100 yrds of 18lb lead-core line which I'll try out on the next outting.

Monday night when we were out there I tried a shad rap on my fly rod with sinking line. the line didn't seem to be heavy enough though to get the rapp down deep. I would have been in for the thrill of a lifetime if I'd hooked a wiper on that fly rod.
