rockport with fishhound

Went fishing with fishhound yesterday out on rockport. The day was nice and fishhound is a very nice host. We had great day even though the fishing was a little slow at times. I think we ended up with 8 or 9 good sized perch a couple of fat bows and caught a bunch of medium to small smallmouth. Mostly just a great day on the water with a fun guy. Thanks again fishhound. We will have to do it agian sometime.

Hey there Jed,

It was a great day to be out on the water fishing with you ! Those perch sure did taste fine ! How were the bows ? I'm looking forward to when we can get out again and harass the fishies - I'm also looking forward to some of your fancy home made jigs.

I went out today and got some of that plastic dye and jig paint you were using and made up a few home mades - those are for UL and Willard though, but they should work just about anywhere I think. I also liked your "little" fishing pole so much, I am thinking of getting one of those too - you know - the "telephone pole" sized one you had ? I think that would work great for spreading out my trolling lines on my pontoon boat. But, that might also mean that I would have to get another trolling reel - bummer - more fishing stuff to get when Cabellas comes to town !

Anyway, thanks for the great company and great fishing day. I hope you remember some of the stuff I showed you about the lake - if not, we can go again, or you can just ask me about it before you head up there(but, you'll have to get a map so we can talk about it).

BTW - I didn't think that the catching was too bad - just not quite frequent as I have seen it happen before up there, but I have also had much worse catching days on that water. Maybe next time, you/we can concentrate and target just one species rather than using the cafeteria/whirlwind approach that we employed.
