] We took out Frank stefanuk and dave von Doeher out for a Shark/Tuna combo trip out of Moriches. We trolled out to the 25 fathom fingers south of Moriches. No Bluefin tuna to be found. we only managed 1 10 lb. bluefish. we set up our shark slick in 73 degree water. No action on the first can of chum. On the 2nd can a 150lb. class Hammerhead Shark comes in to see whats on the menu. he circled the boat for over 30 minutes refusing to eat our offerings of bluefish and bunker! He leaves finally! You dont want to play leave! We were at the end of our 2nd chum can when the deep 90' rod goes off! I quickly set the hook and can feel some weight to the fish. we strap frank in and he does battle on a nice 6' plus Mako! It makes 2 spectacular leaps cartwheeling in the air! all captured on video! In doing so he tangled the line around his tail! Frank brings him in tail first! Just out of gaffing range the mako makes a last ditch effort to escape and cuts the line on his Tail! Bummer! At least frank got to Fight and see his first Mako!
