Pineview & Willard 8/19
#1
Pineview:
Picked up a friend and his two boys and headed up to Pineview. This is my first trip there this year. Got on the water at 10:30 AM. Went to a cove protected by a "no wake" bouy and worked my way around the edges with a #5 Mepps while the others casted/trolled jigs and worms. One of the boys caught a small perch. I caught about a 20 inch Muskie, My second ever. Saw a kazillion perch fry. Had a nice crappie chase my spinner. This lake should really improve in a few years. Off the water at 2PM.

Willard:
After dropping of my friend and his boys I came back home and read another post about crappie being caught off the east dike. So headed out there and started out on the middle east dike. Used a small sparkly jig 3 feet below a bubble casting to the rocks and retreiving back. Didn't do anything so pulled back a little bit more off the dike. Took off the bubble and on the very first cast with the jig nailed a 4 pound cat. Hooked one more with the jig. Started using my mepps #5 with a nightcrawler and caught my kitty limit. I could have caught more but decided to troll for walleye. That was a total bust. Saw a lot of people trolling the south east corner but couldn't tell if anyone was catching. Left the water a dark.

Thanks for the report Finhunter, my last trip ti willard was really slow so I think we're heading out to hunt muskie again today. My last trip to pinview brought me a 36" muskie and i want to top that before the season starts to really slow down again. Even if we only catch a smaller one it's worth it. Here is the last muskie i caught.

Awsome snapshot. I'm hoping for one as big or bigger someday. I've heard that the muskie fishing gets better at Pineview September through November but maybe you could enlighten me somemore.

Well, my expierience has been more int the hotter days of summer' July, august, but i have watched a couple shows about trolling at night and in cooler temps. Generally pineview is a bust for me except the last couple years I have picked up a couple Muskies, couple smallies (I need to learn to be more paitent fishing for bass wirh plastics!). We went tonight and there must have been a skunk in the boat, but it won't make me give up. I don't know about later in the season but its worth a shot. The muskie is somthing i've been trying to figure out, kinda like the wiper, some days are hot for you and everybody else is getting skunked, somedays its just the opposite..... You never know.
Right now i'm stuck waiting to go with friends cause my boat has motor probs but i'm in the market for a newer one, if you want to try and chase th ebigs dogs sometime IM me.
