Hey Catfishrick welcome to BFT!! There are plenty of us here that love to fish for those whiskerfish at Utah Lake. Many of us fish it from pontoons and tubes, as well as from boats and from shore.

There are plenty of good places to fish for cats at Utah Lake. For shore access, the best places are usually the marinas, because of shoreline access. Lindon Boat harbor, American Fork Boat Harbor, Saratoga Springs, Pelican Point, the Provo River harbor (Utah Lake State Park) and Lincoln Beach all provide both boat launch ramps as well as dikes to fish off of shore. There are a few other shore fishing places that are available depending on water depth.

From a boat, you'll have a lot more options. Lincoln Beach on the South end of the lake usually fishes quite well for cats, but you must be careful not to ding your prop out there because there are lots of drop-offs and places where deep water suddenly becomes shallow and it's quite rocky. Many a prop has been donated to the fish gods there.

I don't know for sure but I would assume that that area of the lake is the among the deepest. There are many spots there that run up to 8 ft. + deep. Deep does not always mean the best place to fish, however. Channel cats will feed in water even just a foot deep or less if it's low light or really choppy water. Usually 3 - 4 feet is a good depth.

For baits, you can use nightcrawlers for some success, but most people prefer cutbait from white bass, yellow perch or carp. Whole or halved dead minnows such as shiners, chubs, suckers or anchovies are quite popular as well and bring in lots of big cats.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Get in all the fishin you can now cause it won't last forever my friend! lol
