Zebco omega spincast reel any experience
#1
I love spincast reels for light lure fishing, however I have 2 an abu and a daiwa both of which have their issues:
Abu: the drag is on the handle (wrong side of the drive train)so you can make the drag slip by winding easier than by a fish pulling
Daiwa: has no level wind system so unless you use 10lb plus mono the spool goes all tangled.

I also want to use gelspun line if possible.

Has anyone got any experience with the above reel any reviews thought etc.

I live in australia and spincasts are not ig here so info is difficult to come by!

Cheers

mattiger,
I got one back in September, I love it it has been trouble free. I like the drag. The whole unit is smooth to opperate. I was away from home and had the oppertunity to go fishing but had no gear with me so it was not a planed purchase, but it now is my prefered reel to use. I have it on a colapsable rod also from Zebco. It goes with me any time I leave home![Smile]

Thanks ssor!

Fishing here is picking up as we head into summer.

The warmer curents are bringing the pelagics like yellowtail and tuna further south and closer in so, here's hoping it will be a productive summer.

Warning about Zebco Omega Reels!

The back portion is made of pot metal and has a magnetically applied chrome finish unlike the aluminum front. After a year or so this chrome finish will start flaking off leaving sharp edges that can scratch up or even cut your fingers.

You had better thoroughly wash this reel in fresh water and thoroughly dry it after each use to postpone this problem.
