Anglers need to possess a tag when targeting lake sturgeon (prior to angling). The tag is not a substitute for a fishing license and all anglers must have at least a restricted fishing license to use the tag. Sturgeon fishing season information can be found on page 10 (Table 3 Lake Sturgeon) of the 2005 Fishing Guide. you planning a trip to Ostego lake this winter?

I did not make it to the east side to pick up my tag, I wanted to pick it up in lovinia but they told me the office was going to move so I did not check back with them and wouldnt ya know with the state crunch they stayed right where they were.

now you are saying you need to pick up the anual tag prior to entering in to the black lake lottery?

or is this lottery a sepreate special harvest?

From what I understand , the tags are free but you must have one prior to targeting the stergon for fishing .
I won't be going to Black Lake but , (gotta check the season first ) there is a lake just north of me that has the fish , hook and line .
I'm thinking of taking a day trip for that when the ice is on .
