tiger trout question
#1

[Smile] can anyone tell me what other lakes there are to go and catch some tiger trout. i went to huntington last year on the ice with a buddy and we caught some tigers. they have very beautiful colors and fight hard. i heard that they were going to plant them in hyrum and rockport this year, is this true. any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks trfishin

[cool]Trfishin, I don't know about Hyrum (but CBR would know as he has the updated fish stocking list from the DWR on his website www.freeformfishing.com ). Anyway, as for tigers, I know for a fact that the DWR planted some in Rockport a year or two ago, and just this fall they planted 80,000 of them (about 3 inches long) into Scofield to combat the new chub population (thanx a lot, damn bucket biologists), but at least there will soon be catchable size tigers in there to go along with the 'bows and few cuts that are in there now!

Causey does as well but they are only about 10" now. So, just a rundown, Causey has:

1. Rainbows
2. Cutthroat
3. Cutbows
4. Browns
5. Kokanee
6. Splake
7. Tiger trout

They supposedly put 25,000 fingerlings (3") in Hyrum Res' somewhere around mid July 2004. Even though I live right next to it I haven't fished it much this year. If they survived they should be getting to a catchable size. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me they actually caught one out of Hyrum. Has anyone? I'll let you know if I do.

This site has some lakes listed : http://utahfishfinder.com/tigertroutfishing.shtml
There may be more now - and, don't forget, lakes near these that are accessible up or downstream.
Hope this helps.

After next year the question will be "What doesn't have tigers"?

Here is the 2005 stocking report from DWR, a lot of 4-5" were stocked ina lot of waters:

Is it a female brook with a male brown or visa versa or does it not matter as long as one is male and other female (thats how it works right[Wink]? Are they sterile???
