Are there any new updates on Utah Lake. My dad and a couple buddies went out yestersday and had very little success. I was just wondering if there had been any success at all. I was thinking of going this weekend

[cool]No updates since last week. The fishing has been a little slow through the ice out there so far. If you scroll back a page or two or three, you'll see those reports. Good luck.

[cool][#0000ff]Hit the pumps with Bassrods before daybreak until 10 AM this morning. Both had a couple of nudges but no solid takers and nothing hit the ice except me. I slipped on the way in and wiped out my left leg again.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I kept sonar on constantly, and Bassrods set up his Aquavu camera. We fished the channel in front of the pumps, drilling holes in several spots, from 8 to 9.5 feet. Bassrods saw one white bass on his video (with an upraised middle fin). I saw several marks on sonar, right on the bottom, and a couple just off the bottom, over about a one hour period just at daybreak. Nothing after that.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There was one other angler who came down, but he got there after we did and left before we did. [/#0000ff]

My son and his buddy fished the pumps yesterday(12/12) afternoon 2:30 - 4:00 with no luck. They drilled quite a few holes and didn't see anything on the flashers and no bites. Jigs and mealworms
I fished Saturday(as reported earlier) from 7-10:30. Probably drilled 25+ holes and only found a few fish holding in one area.
Just not alot of fish frequenting the pumps right now.

[#0000ff][size 1]Pat, is there some significance to the "upraised middle fin"?[/size][/#0000ff]

Kent,
I think pat was reffering to an age old tradition. try this...raise hand, extend middle finger... this should give you the basic idea...

Duh -- some of us are a little (perhaps a lot) dense!

[cool][#0000ff]Perhaps I overstated the obvious. I could have said "Hawaiian good luck symbol"...or I could have referred to it as Utah's most common driver signal. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am sure that all of you astute BFTers (including Kent) are aware that it is physically impossible for fishkind to perform anything like that. However, there are many times on the water that I get a visual of a whole horde of fish on my sonar screen all doing so in unison.[/#0000ff]
