I'm certainly going to miss Tom Pettingill.
" Fish planted Then - 20.1 million Now - 8.8 million
Pounds of planted fish Then - 794,000 Now - 930,000"
They definitely are planting more catchables these days than they did in 1975.
"Number of licensed anglers Then - 407,252 Now - 393,831"
Sure seems like there are far more anglers these days than back then.
"Pettengill said the data show the average Utah angler... fishes 12 to 15 days a year..."
Finally I am above (way above) average at something good.

That means that $10,239,606 was spent by licensed anglers for fishing licenses (at $26 per license, which should be a little off because many by combination licenses). I sure hope that ten and a quarter million dollars all gets spent on wildlife and DWR budgets.

Appropriations committee meetings (specifically the Natural Resources Appropriations Subcomittee See Link Here) during the legislative sessions are always open to the public. It's interesting to see these boys divy out the millions...

The link is down but I hate to see Tom go. He was one of the better ones to talk to when I was organizing get togethers for the Utah board and he always had time to talk when you saw him on the water!!
