We went up to Strawberry to do a little ice fishing. With all the reports we heard, we decided to head up and give it a try. Whn we arrived to the S.B. Marina there was a ton of people! We ended up with 1 Cut in the slot. We released her and headed home. We stopped off at Deer Creek and talked with a couple of guys there. The son was on fire! he was catching nice bows! The father, well let's just say he was a great cheering section. Anyways, it was nice to get out and just relax. Here's some pix.

Looks like you got to enjoy a very nice day. Too bad the fishing wasn't a little better for ya. Good luck next time.

We where in that same area from 12:00-3:30. Looking behind you in the photo it looks like Skips ice shanty, thats right where we where. Those later hours are tough fishing you really have to consentrate tight to the botom.

[black]So what are the ice conditions? How's the snow on top? Can you head anywhere on the lake with a snowmobile now? Thanks![/black]

Theres a good 7-8 inches over at the marina with about an inch of snow on it. The sluch is not bad,the wind has kept the surface in check. On a calm day there could be an inch or two of sluch. I did see a snowmobile drive over towards the western bays (East Portal Bay) I never did see any one go back towrds the narrows/renegade area. Most likely it would be safe but I hate to say not seeing it first hand. Maybe one of our snomobile members can chime in on this and let us know what they have experienced. Even with 7 inches of ice I would still watch out for the natural springs. There is always the option to take the road over to Renegade on the snowmobile.

what's up fellas? i hit mud creek last sunday and the ice was 8". had the snowmobile and cargo sled hooked up, (similar weight of one snowmobile towing another snowmobile) and parked it for 7 hrs out there. didn't hear too many cracks all day.i didn't head out to the main lake though. i would say mud creek should be plenty save this weekend, maybe a little slushy though. i heard of open water over by sodier creek a few days ago. with the warm weather this week, deffinately proceed with caution if you plan to cross any main bodys. good luck. laters

Two weeks ago IceFishingGod had two snomobiles on mud creek. We had an ATV over at the marina area but we never did venture too far from the shore line. I agree when you said "deffinately proceed with caution if you plan to cross any main bodys".
