Renegade on a sled?
#1
Everytime I've ever gone to the Renegade on the sleds, it's been across the ice from the marina. I've always wanted to go along the main road to compare the trips.

With all of this slush building up (and usually sticks around [Sad]), what is the "way around" like? I know it's a longer trip, but I'm curious is any of it is groomed for the usual sledders? Also, is it worth it? I need to tag behind someone that likes going that way one day!

Not yet, but I'm used to having sleds up there. My dad brings his all the time. I'm sick of bugging him, so it's time I bought one. Plus, he's in Wyoming and it costs $40 for an out of state sticker!! [pirate]

With my own sled, I'll probably hit places like the Renegade area alot more than before.

I take the road almost everytime I go to renegade, its groomed the whole way, I do it so I dont have to fight the slush or worry about hitting a soft spot or spring on the big water. plus if I have trouble there is always somone comming along to help me out.

How well packed is the road? can you take a wheeler down it or will they just dig in and get stuck?

We've been quite lucky, so far, this year. We are going to try and fish differrent spots this year. This time was by Jakes Bay. The road to Renegade is about 11 miles but it's worth it if there is bad conditions on the lake. Four wheelers can put rutts in the groomed snow. It makes it a bit rough, and they can get stuck on the best of days.

well havent been there yet this year had some troubles with the sleds and illness, but last year it would have been difficult a few times to take the road with quads, but it would be easier then taking the quads by lake I guess. I have noted quad tracks on the groomed trail and at a few places that they had dug it up pretty good, also I dont know the rules to quads on the groomed trail, you may want to check that out with the forest service before venturing into a ticket.
