Lake Toho Chain

Lake Toho Fishing Report
by: Captain Chuck Matthews
January 12, 2003

Well, considering all the rain and cold fronts, the fish are still doing ok with the running water. Lake Toho's water level is above normal for this time of year. The rains have caused the Fish and Game Commission to let water run out of East Lake to West Lake so the whole system is moving, which is good.

There is going to be a major spawn this month into February. I don't think there will be a hotter place to fish then the Toho Chain. A drawdown of the lake only takes place every seven years and the fish will all be in open water so it is easy fishing. Don't miss out. Remember that it is all catch and release on West Lake till September and I'm sure this will be enforced. Lake Cypress and Hatchineha have a lot of schooling fish at the markers going into the canal towards Hatchineha and at the markers when you get into Hatchineha. We still have bookings available for this winter. If you want a chance to catch a trophy fish, this winter will be a great time to do it.

If you have any questions, just email me or give me a call.

Tight Lines,

Captain Chuck Matthews
