Highland Lakes (Buchanan & LBJ) Guide Report

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 56 degrees; 1012.26' (8' low)
Largemouth are fair in 8'-20' on mainlake and ledges of secondary points using Carolina rigged watermelon-red Snap Back creature baits, Ice Tea Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs, white, 3/8 oz. double willow Terminator spinnerbaits and smoke-red 5" JDC Craws on jigheads.
Stripers are very good from Shaw Island uplake in 15'-30' drifting live bait, vertically jigging 1/2 oz. silver Pirk Minnows, casting 2" or 3" Spoiler Shads or white Snap Back jerkbaits rigged on a weighted RED Bait Jerker Hook (Falcon Lures) under diving birds and trolling 1/2 oz. striper jigs to deeper fish.
White Bass are fair to good from Paradise point to Mud Island trolling deep diving Shad Raps, casting 1-1/2" Spoiler Shads and jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows.

Lake LBJ: Water clear to stained; 58 degrees; 825.89' (full)
Largemouth are good to 9.4 lbs around brushpiles along docks, boulders and rip rap in 8'-15' pitching black-blue 1/2 oz. Terminator football head jigs, wacky rigged bubblegum Scoundrel worms, smoke-red JDC Craws, crawfish Wiggle Warts and Texas RED Terminator spinnerbaits and dead-sticking Texas rigged 5" watermelon-red Whacky Sticks.
White Bass are good in 18'-26' along mainlake points and channelturns jigging Pirk Minnows, casting Spoiler Shads or white grubs.
Crappie are good in 6'-12' on brushpiles and wooden dock
pilings using 2" grubs, plastic or hair crappie jigs and minnows.
