I can't stand it anymore, it's time to get the boat out this weekend. What do any of you suggest, Utah Lake or Yuba. Thanks

Not concerned with the boating, never had and never will. Just like to fish with family and others that like to fish. The boat is just a different means of obtaining that goal. With most lakes frozen, Yuba or Utah Lake are my nearest options. Just asking for your help or opinion. Thanks

[cool][#0000ff]There have not been any recent reports from Yuba. I suspect that there will be some trout available now, after iceout, but a lot of them are probably trying to spawn, even though there is no good spawning area. The perch are off limits and there are not many walleyes or northerns.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]If I wanted to at least have a shot at catching something with the family, in open water, I'd take my chances on Utah Lake. In fact, I have planned to hit it Friday and maybe Saturday.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Earlier in the week it was forecast that the weather would be decent through the weekend, but the latest info I got was a storm moving in Friday night. So, what else is new.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Even if it is going to be a bit sloppy, you can fish on the protected sides of the boat launch channel jetties at Lincoln Beach, Provo Boat Harbor or Lindon. In spite of all the nasty weather, the fish are getting just as anxious as we are, and some are starting to bite. Mostly mud cats, a few white bass and an occasional channel cat or walleye.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Fish minnows or worms either on the bottom, under a bobber or up off the bottom on a corky rig. Make sure everybody has warm and waterproof gear and bring plenty of food and drinks.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Good luck.[/#0000ff] [signature]

Go to utah lake thats your best chance to catch some good fish.I will be at lincoln this saturday with my family fishing hopefully from my boat depending on my car being fixed. As TD said you can probably catch something there especially if you are in a boat.Get some minnows for cats and eyes and worms will attract the white bass and mudcats for the kids.My kids love casting spinners for white bass especially if they are active and schooling.I have had days were i have caught about 20 in a 10 minute span.Usually a little later in the year but you never know at utah lake.Probably see ya there if you go.I have a light colored crestliner with a 115hp and a 8hp engine.Probably be displaying a pirate flag if i can find it .good luck.

Good luck on Saturday, Ocean. I will be going out Thursday (tomorrow) after work from my yeller' boat. It's probably the only sun I'll see for a couple days. I'll post a report if I do any good, if I don't do any good I'll come up with some stories [laugh]. I imagine there are some walleye hangin' on the shelfs by now.
OH! I almost forgot, go to Utah Lake, Yubas' fish have this funny slime coating on them.... [signature]

[cool]Ocean,
I'll be at Lindon on Saturday morning with CBR and may head over to Lincoln if I don't get anything after an hour or two there. Good luck to you and your fam in the boat. Hope you find some 'eyes. If I don't get anything at Lindon, I'm gonna be hangin' in the little bay South of the channel at Lincoln soaking some bait for kitties from my tube unless it's too windy, then I'll be shore bound. KSL is saying rain late Saturday into Saturday night, so the morning should be decent with a high of around 57. [signature] |
