I called Sportsman's Warehouse in Provo yesterday to ask about the fishing on Utah Lake. The guy there said a lot of walleye are being caught off the Provo Boat harbor.
Can anyone substantiate this?

[#505000]As much as I love the ol' Sportsmans I have found their fishing reports to be horribly innaccurate if not completely out of date. I would take anything you get from them as far as reports go with a grain of salt.[/#505000]

[cool]The walleye "run" as some call it (spawn) happened a few weeks ago. But that's o.k. because the 'eyes actually get hungrier just after the spawn at Utah Lake on into about the first of July when the temps get too warm for them. Then they go out deeper and try to stay cool in the deepest parts of the lake until the fall. Right now is an excellent time to chase them as the water temps are finally starting to warm up and the fishies now require more food to keep up with their more active lifestyles this time of year and to put the feedbag back on after expelling all of that energy/calories on the spawn.
Two weekends ago CBR and I saw hundreds of one inch walleye minnows in the creek that dumps into A.F. boat harbor. So, that means that the spawn was even over (or mostly over) at that point. It's time to chase those toothy critters!! Now, if we could just get about 4-5 days strait of warm weather our success rates on them would be much greater!
