Lindon Harbor Report 5-5
#1
Fished Lindon this morning from about 9 to 12:30. It was good fishing, very poor catching. I was fishing for bass. I thought it might slow down with the storm that's been through for the last few days. I fished several different presentations, including senkos, crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, and tube jigs without landing anything. I had one decent bite early on, but it was just a slow day and tough fishing. I've had decent success for LMB at Lindon in previous years, and I thought the water would be warm enough that some bass might be on their beds, but I wasn't able to get anything to bite. I fished all over the inside of the bay. There looks to be a lot of good LMB habitat north of the harbor, but access from shore is limited because of the vegetation lining the shore. I may need to get the float tube out and go give it a go in that area. I didn't see anybody catch fish. There were four or five guys fishing for catfish scattered around the outside of the bay fishing in the lake portion. I didn't see any of them get anything. I had the harbor to myself, the wind wasn't bad at all, just a slight breeze from the West. I'll have to give it another try when we get a few days of good weather in a row, but I haven't had a lot of luck there in the last year or so.

[cool][#0000ff]I think you are right about the increased habitat outside the harbor contributing to the lower numbers inside. The whole lake is prime spawning grounds for all species right now. I am sure that the bass are widely scattered and that is the reason for most bassers' lower success rate. They are still there, but not as many inside the harbors.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]By the way, there is a lot of the weedy and brushy area around the lake that is ideal for wading and flipping. Easier to fish than with a tube or toon. That is a pretty popular technique in many spots in the south. Just watch out for gators and moccasins. If you don't find any of those, watch out for carp. They get kinda rowdy in the weeds.[/#0000ff]
