Yuba Fishing - What best method for Kids?
#1
Finally got an old boat so I could take my kids fishing with me. They are between 5 and 7 and I was wondering what your kids enjoy the most from a boat? I've got the setup to do some trolling/downrigging, but I prefer jigging or casting lures from a boat. Also was thinking about still fishing minnows. They're not very good at casting and I'm hoping to not make any trips to the hospital for hooked ears tonight. What do you find your kids can do easily and what do they most enjoy?

We're headed to Yuba and I will be launching from the dam. Not too familiar with yuba so any suggestions to improve success would also be appreciated. I think I'm more excited than my kids for this trip. Hopefully it will be the start of many future fishing trips together.

I WOULD TROLL WITH KIDS. IT KEEPS THE BAIT IN THE WATER. OR DRIFT A JIG CRAWLER COMBO JUST TICKING THE BOTTOM.

I would think trolling is a good idea, you wont get hooked in the ears!

Haven't heard any Walleye on the prowl but the bows bite is fair. We trolled dodgers with a mixed variety of lures behind for a few smaller bows. There are some nice fish in the lake, but I haven't seen any caught for a while.
