Hi everyone! Went to the Green yesterday and fished around Taylors flat..caught a few in a short time, all browns with one rainbow. Water is running high (around 1500-1700 cfs) I think and kind of murky although clear enough to throw some hardware at em!
No surface action to speak of and not many rafts which was weird for a holiday weekend.
The biggest problem was the wind...I have been fishing the Green for 33 years now and I can't remember ever having wind like it was yesterday..really makes it hard to cast at times, and you have to be real sharp when jigging as you can't feel the hits usually.
If anyone else was on the Green this weekend please feel free to let me know how you did!

I've never had the chance to fish the Green, but one day I hope to get down there. Thanks for the report.

My pleasure!
You should make a trip up someday it's well worth the drive, although I would advise going on a weekday if possible - especially during the summer as the crowds get pretty crazy!
You can catch some nice fish including browns, rainbows, and cutthroats...I have even caught a few brookies! The fish usually range about 17-20 inches and put up a big fight, especially the rainbows. There are GIANT fish there, but you will spend alot of time if that is what you are after...I have caught many big fish there with the biggest being a 12 lb brown that ran over 30" but like I said the majority of the fish will run about 2-4 pounds.
Also, if you go prepare for the weather as it could (and does) change very fast!!
Good luck, and PM me if you want any more info!

What section is Taylor flat on? I'd like to get back out to the Green in the next month or so. I think I'll hike down into the B section this time-- unless it's too murky from feeder creeks.

[black]You should get down there some day if you can. It is some great fishing and scenery.[/black]

[black]The A section below the dam is the most popular with anglers and rafters or the fishing and scenery. There is good bank access on the trails. When the river is running clear, the A section is like a giant aquarium and you can see lots of huge fish under the water. This section can also be a challenge as the fish have seen every kind of offering at least a thousand times.[/black]

[black]The B and C sections are my favorites. The water is murkier but there are fewer anglers there. Those areas have different challenges, but they can be rewarding. Bring bug spray and don't forget the sun screen. [/black]
