We now have 3 radio channels that BFT'ers are using. 7,12 and 16.
We need to pick one and stick with it. The last one that I hear people wanting to use is 16-0. Do we want to go with that one. I used 7 but if we all go to 16 that will be fine with me.
As most of you know, we want to go to one of the higher power channels. So for now is it sweet 16-0?

Because mine won't go to channel 16 I will stay with the original BFT channel of 12-0.

When I first suggested going to a more powerful channel over a year ago, I suggested 7 because some radios don't go past 12.
I would like to see 7 become the base channel but there just doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in changing from 12.
I also have found that sence we have been looking for alternative channels, I don't get any answers on any channels anymore. I guess people just quit using the radios.
We could use some imput from the Mods to pick a channel and stick with it.

[cool][#0000ff]That is not a decision for moderators to make. Since we all have different radios, with different ranges and capabilities, it is tough to arbitrarily say "THOU SHALT TUNE TO CHANNEL..." [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I don't know how we originally settled on 12, but for some reason that seems to be popular with kids in some areas and there is often a lot of "chatter" going on. When TubeBabe and I go fishing we often have to switch to another channel...usually 8. But, with handheld units there is never enough power or range to pick up anything except close by stuff or more powerful transmissions that you cannot respond to anyway. I have tried to respond to BFTers on some trips and cannot be heard beyond a half mile or so with my little Motorola handhelds. Not all of us have marine radios.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I know that a lot of BFTers still keep tuned to 12. There are good arguments for going to the other channels, but people are resistant to change. Like a lot of things, THERE'S NO GOOD REASON FOR IT. IT'S JUST THE WAY WE DO THINGS.[/#0000ff]
