Can anyone tell me if the road to Mill Hollow Reservoir is open, a friend wants to take his kids fishing this weekend. I will once again be chasing the big one at the gorge that seems to always land in someone elses boat. Thanks for the info.

Yes! I was up there Tuesday and it is fine. There is some snow in the shadows and blocking the entrance to the campground but you can easily access the lake. I caught about 30 10-14" rainbows in a little over an hour beginning just after 1:00. I used spinners down by the dam. SuperDuper (gold/red) and Daredevil (smallish sized in white/red) and with a quick but not fast retrieve. Several were jumpers and the largest two hit it just a few feet from the shore. One fellow was fly fishing by the spillway and caught his 4 very quickly and left. It's a very pretty lake and you should have lots of fun. Easy launch for tube, toon, or canoe. GOOD LUCK!!!

There are some albino rainbows up there (which people would mistakenly refer to as "goldens") and they would follow my spinner in but not go for it. An easily walkable path goes around the lake but it gets a little sloppy near the campground where the snow melts and flows into the lake.

When next you go try adding a little piece of worm to that spinner. I have had better than average success with that method up at Mill. Are you sure about the albino/golden thing? I didn't fish there but once last year, but the year before I spent some time up there with the kids. DWR told me that they emptied the stock fish in there near the end of summer. I asked what that meant and she said "all the trout we have left". She then said they planted everything in there except kokes, lake trout, and tigers. But that was 2 years ago, guess I will have to go and see what they are doing these days. Seems the DWR is getting back to planting primarily Bows again.
