fish cat cougar vs. fish cat 9 dlx pontoons ?
#1
Hello guys I have a question between these two pontoons which one would you recomend for 75% lake 25% river, small stream fishing. I also am planning to mount a trolling motor on the toon. Any help is much appreciated. J.

[cool][#0000ff]The Cougar offers the greater stability and lower profile with the twin air chambers on each side. The lower profile also reduces the wind factor, but it increases drag for when you have a trolling motor hooked up.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Not sure what state you live in, or what the regs are, but in some states now you cannot take a toon less than 9 feet on moving water. That might be a factor if you plan to float fish.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Both come with motor mounts standard, so that is a wash. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Hope that helps. Is there something specific you are looking for...or to avoid?[/#0000ff]

[#505000]With the Cougar you get 2 air chambers on each side which is a nice fail safe if you have a chamber failure. I have the Fishcat 9 and have seen the Cougar on the water with me. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]The one thing I don't like about the cougar is you have a bigger "footprint" in the water which will increase the amount of drag making a little tougher to get around.[/#505000]

For manuverabilityit is the Fish Cat 9 hands down. I have the Sportsmen Warehouse 9 (fish cat 9), my boss has a cougar. On the lake it is no contest whos toon kicks easier, gets in and out of tight spots better its the FC9. I've had mine for several months (last Fall) but didn't get around to setting it until this spring. I HATED it the 1st few times out. Even considered selling it and getting another tube. But in the long run it is more confortable than most tubes I've been in. I'm now honing in on how I want it set-up and adjusting everything to make everything else work took me some time. So I've had some real frustrating fishing trips.

So when you decide and buy a toon take your pole but plan on getting to know your new ride. Learn to row it, kick it, spin it, rock it, learn its limitations and yours. If your lucky you can soak a hook and wet your line, maybe even catch a few fish. But plan on learning your ride first, you will not reget in the future. Have fun and my vote is for the FC 9 because it will serve your needs better. If it were reverse 75% river, I think I might chose the Cougar. I'm just a brute for punishment. Hey TD it's hurricane season again. LOL

I will have to say Cardiac Canyon for stillwater or rivers. 11 1/2 feet long and 5' wide with 12" diameter toons. Low profile, less wind resistance, and less surface in water. Wide and very stable for rivers. Manuverability is awesome. I can turn on a dime. Not to mention that with the oars I can fly across the water.

[cool][#0000ff]I don't need to listen to the news or check my calendar to know when there will be hurricanes. All I have to do is book a fishing trip with you and I know it will blow. [/#0000ff]
