Saturday I took my 9 year old son fishing. With the way the weather was on Friday we were a little uncertain. We started off close to home by just running down to Burriston Ponds. We fished for 2 1/2 hours without so much as a nibble. We moved around and tried 3 of the ponds and threw a whole array of stuff at the fish but they weren't having any. It started to get quite hot so we gave up and went home. We saw one guy catch about an 11” trout and a kid caught about a 4” blue gill. Another guy said he caught a lunker of a carp but other than that no one was catching fish. The fish were jumping all over but just not biting.
Later in the afternoon we decided to try fishing again so we packed up and headed to Smith & Morehouse. The scenery was gorgeous but the fishing was lousy. We fished for 2 hours till dark, again without so much as a nibble. We saw a lady catch one trout and other than that there were a lot of people fishing but no one was catching.
It was not a total waste of the day as I got to spend the day with my son. Have to teach him that there will be days like that. Just not as fun as the days when they are fighting to get to your hook!
