Dave,
That's what you do just before signing on as "GUEST".
No Rhode Island is coming up on the 13th. I'm pretty enthused about it and can't wait for the day to arrive. With the women busy with their social agenda my friend get's to fish to his heart's content. Last year he invited me along and I brought My other tube along and turned him into a dedicated tuber. We used to wade fish the Grand River tailwater a bit but have not been there since he got his tube. The fish at our club are real quality specimens and fight like steelhead especially in the cooler weather. They back off on their acrobatics when it's hot. Good to see you getting out a couple of times.
I caught half a dozen fat brown bullhead catfish on the fly when we visited a new venue the other day. I've never caught catfish on the fly before. One of the things on my mind was Tube's advice about keeping those spiny fins away from the tube. They really stick those pectorals out with incredible strength. I thought I would lay them back to avoid any possible encounter with the pontoons on my Fat Cat. I endeavoured to do this carefully because I know they can "stick" you with those spiny pectorals. They were so strong I gave up and just dangled them at arms length until they flipped the barbless hook. Good thing I didn't have to deal with a barb with those blubbery gristlely lips.
