Reel up or pull away technique at the Gorge
#1
Does anyone know what the reel up or pull away technique is at the gorge? I have heard a lot about it but don't know anything. I watched a guy catch 5 fish in about an hour doing this. Also, does any one ever wash their lures with Ivory soap? Does it help?

Appreciate any advice,

I think the reel up is just to reel up at a slow steady pace, and the pull away is to reel faster as the fish comes closer to your lure.
you really need a depth finder that you can see your jig with.
not sure if this is what your looking for, but this nethod has worked for me a few times. later chuck

The technique you mention is just what Utwalleye said. You drop the jig, then take it away from the fish; and when it works, the fish chases and eats the jig. There's a whole book's worth of techniques within the technique, but that's the basic idea. Sometimes it works, sometimes the fish just laugh at your attempts.

Remember, there is no wrong way to ever fish a jig. you just have to find what's working at the particular minute or hour. And once it works, the fish get wise and it quits working. Then its time to go to plan B, then C, then D, and so on and so on forever. The fish WILL make you crazy trying to stay ahead of them and the other fishermen also trying to catch 'em.

What kind and color of boat was that guy in who caught all those fish so quick?? Recently, or in years past?

It was a two tone, blue bottom and white top older style boat. Had an older 150 horse motor. It was about 2 weeks ago from yesterday.
