Im takin the family up to the berry in the mornin for a day of fishing, this will be my two yr old sons first fishing trip, Im so excited. We are taking the boat and I love to troll, the problem is i'm not real familiar with the lake or the tackle to use to catch a bunch of fish. I have read that jigging is producing right now but that might be difficult for the kids. I have leaded lines and rapalas that we use for the big browns in the spring and fall at the nell, do these same techniques work for the cutts and bows or should we use something else. Also where might we catch the most fish any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fish will be 30+ deep . You should be able to get to them with leaded line . I haven't been there in a while but use your fish finder to find them .I would suggest frog flat fish as a option or pop gear/dodger with a needlefish or tripleteaser . Try to get under 2 mph and you should hook some fish . I hope to make a trip this weekend but I sure hate the crowds .

TROLL THE BANK LINES ERLY WITH CD # 5 AND 7,S IN BLACK AND GOLD. WITH REGULAR FISHING LINE NO WEIGHT. THEN AFTER THE SHALLOW BITE TURNS OFF GO TO THE LEAD CORE WITH SAME. TROLL FAST ABOUT 2.5 TO 3.0 AND HANG ON TO THEM POLES... HAVE FUN. AND POST YR SONS FIRST FISH!!!!

I have done well trolling large Frog and Perch Flat Fish (U-20 I think). They are big, but work really well. Try different fish after finding them on the finder in 20-40 ft of water. We we usually between 2.5 and 4 color out. Have a blast. Jake
