You need leasons from Tube Dude, preferrably on the water!!! [ ] Otherwise, just read posts, archive posts and keep on trying. My boy had to make a long distance call last week to tell me he finally caught his first fish after 2 yrs. going fishless. He basically had the same problem, fishing with folks, doing the supposed exact same thing and everyone except him catching fish including his wife. Maybe wash your hands next time. May not like your smell????? [ ] Maybe try Mantua nest time?

Mostly bluegill, some perch, and some Large Mouth, a few smallies and those pesky trout.[sly] There are a zillion bass and bluegill there and fishing for em will probably get better. When you first start you may only catch small guys but it will break the ice and get ya going. Heck, you may even get ito some nice ones right off since my guess it's probably getting better now. Once again, there have been lots of posts on Mantua, lots recently on techniques, where, etc. Much luck to ya.

Try to schedule an outing with TubeDude he'll not only put you where the fish are but he'll show you techniques, thypes of bail and how to use them, and from his vast chest of toys he'll loan or give you proven lures for you to experiment with, on top of all that as long as you're not a "BUTT HEAD" he is one of the most patient teachers I've ever known, and is great company to go fishing with.
There are a great number of people on this fishng board who are good company to fish with and know lots about their favorite waters, anyone of them would be great to go out with, but [#008000]"The Dude"[/#008000] is tops in my book! Good luck!

If others are catching fish don't hesitate walking over and ask if they would mind showing you how they are fishing. Most anglers are more than willing to help a struggling fellow angler, and the few that won't just try to forgive them and move on to the next willing angler. Read reports on here and the UDWR website and see what waters are fishing well and how they are rigging. Watch for invites to go fishing on here and the UDWR website.

[cool][#0000ff]Hope you will forgive me for saying so, but you are asking a lot of us without really giving us much information to go on. You went through the motions of registering, but used an assumed name in your profile. You also failed to give us much background on your level of fishing experience, what kind of tackle you prefer and what species you are fishing for. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In short, since this is your first post, without much of a real introduction, I have to wonder if you are "pulling our chains". We are more than ready to help wherever we can, but you have to give us a bit more to go on. Otherwise, you might as well just ask "How high is up?".[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you have spent any time on our forum, before registering, you know that we have a lot of knowledgeable anglers here and we are all pretty quick to jump in and help whenever we can. But, since we have had problems with "hit and run" posts in the past, we have made it a requirement that you have to register before you can post. When someone is as deliberately evasive as you seem to be pops in and asks a general question such as "how do I catch fish", I have to wonder.....[/#0000ff]

Well theres the problem right off the bat. The fish in Utah don't take to bitin hearts much.
So put that heart back where ya got it and try something different. There are lots of fish to be caught in DC. Even my son-in-law catches nice fish there. He has to borrow a pole! Cause he dosen't fish unless hes with me or my son.

[cool][#0000ff]Sorry if I seemed a bit skeptical, but I understand how you might want to go slow on a new board. Some forums don't take kindly to strangers and run them off. We try to keep things open and friendly and I think you will probably get plenty of help. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Keep an open mind and be willing to learn from those who offer to help. Most of us were where you are at some point in our fishing careers. And, most of us are still learning, no matter how long we have been fishing.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Glad you caught some fish at Mantua. That probably makes life seem better. Don't give up on the other lakes and don't give up on yourself. NOBODY catches fish on every trip, even to their favorite lakes that they know very well.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Spend some time reading the archive sections of our board. There are lots of good posts from the past on the different waters that contain some good info on tackle and techniques. After you do your homework, try to get on the water with someone who can show you first hand how things are done. Reading is okay, but sometimes there is no substitute to seeing it firsthand.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Our philosophy is that it is okay to not know something, and to ask questions. The only dumb question is one that you don't ask and it keeps you from getting the most enjoyment out of your fishing.[/#0000ff]
