Wednesday, 09/20/06- Hit the water at 5pm. 35mph winds from the north! Pulled out of the marina to confront 3' whitecaps. What a wild ride! Not much better around the Hole 33 area. No surface activity seen. Tried to fish a few points but the wind made boat control less than perfect. Ended up drifting while jigging with hardware. Cast to the lee side of the boat, let the lure sink to the end of the line, jig a couple of times, then burn it to the surface. Ended up with two in the box, one about 4 lbs. Off the water by 7:30pm. Three other crazy anglers shared the area with us. It is nice to know that there are other morons out there who will attempt to fish on a day like this besides me!

Hilarious, BaySport. One of those morons would have been me, too, if I lived close to Mead. I've fished Mead in December and January....through rain, hail and freezing temperatures. I'll always remember this one time when we fished till about 3 in the morning...has your body ever shaken so violently from the cold that it felt like you were about to snap your spine? Well, me and my moronic friends did.
Surprisingly, even though it was so damn cold, the stripers were biting very well. Anyway, I can deal with fishing in freezing temps but once it starts raining and the wind picks up, it becomes unbearable.
As for my countdown....21 days!
Best regards,
Paul
