I have just moved to Bluffdale from Northern Utah and want to go fishing tomorrow with my 3 yr old. I have driven out to Saratoga Springs and walked over to the pumphouse but I couldn't fish it at the time. Does anyone here have any suggestions on what to use and where to go? Any species is fine.
Thanks
Bob Frapples
P.S.
Also interested in what to use on the Jordan.

[cool][#0000ff]Best bet, with a youngun, would be to hang a piece of worm under a bobber. Depending on the water depth and clarity, and how protected it is, you could pick up white bass, crappies or even bluegill. Might even be a stray bullhead or channel cat hanging around too. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If the water is over 5 feet deep, you might toss out a worm on a hook without any bobber or weight and let it sit on the bottom. The fish are slower in the cold water, especially after a storm, but they are still around and still eat.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Not sure which pumphouse you checked out, but if there is water coming in, it will probably attract fish if it is clearer than the storm muddied main lake.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You can also fish inside the marina, either next to the rocks or off the docks. Sometimes you have to move around a bit to find the fish. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Good luck and stay warm. [/#0000ff]

Personally, I would fish the "pumphouse" at Bear Lake and leave Utah Lake for the scroungers or dedicated carp-o-holics! LOL! no, LMAO!!! Yeah, I'm biased. But if you really want to fish the pumphouse at Bear Lake, try about 40' of water and jig with 3/4 oz. tube jigs tipped with cisco. This location really turns on at this time of the year and is overlooked by many angler who only want to fish the rockpile for lake trout!

Get yourself some 2 to 3" minnows & a pack of 2/0 hooks. Hook the minnow low just behind the gills & come out right in back of the head on the other side. Get in next to the river somewhere by the little covered pavilion. Chuck the minnow out weightless & let it drift with the current. You oughta catch a bullhead or 2 & maybe a decent channel cat.
Another spot to try is just on the downstream side of the Saratoga bridge. Come in from the big parking lot. There you'll want a little weight & you'll probably lose some gear but there are kitties in that hole too.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I think the official name of where we went is Inlet Park. There was a really shaky "bridge" on a little spillway that scared my wife to death. I can't wait. I'll post results tomorrow night.

[#0000ff]That is a nice whitie. There are some good ones in there, but there will be a lot more in a couple of years. The population dropped during the drought years, but they have had a good spawn the last couple of years in the higher water.[/#0000ff]
