Mark Abel Lands New Idaho State Record Walleye

Mark Abel of Hailey Idaho landed a new state record walleye while night fishing at Salmon Falls Resevoir October 1. The fish weighed in at 17-6 was 35 inches long and had a girth of 21-5 inches. Mark has spent 25 years fishing Salmon Falls and has more than earned this trophy. The old record stood at 16-2. Way to go Mark and I hope your record holds for many years. Congratulations!!! []

Thought some of you fisherman might like to see Roger Rues 14 pound "Eye" he caught last year at Salmon Falls. Roger caught the fish July 31 at about 1:00 in the afternoon dead sticking a night crawler in about 10 feet of water. Roger is another one who has spent thousands of hours fishing for these Eyes at Salmon Falls. And let me tell you they are few and far between!! This is a picture my wife Stephanie took she could hardly get Roger to pose with the fish for the picture. Congratulations Roger on a well earned trophy. [] []

both of those fish are dang nice, too bad to new record fish has a bad picture, are there any other pic's showing the girth.

Chuck I agree that is a pretty poor picture they used in our local paper. I'm sure Mark has a complete photo album by now of the fish. LOL!! []
