Green advice

I'm going to the Green (A and B sections) in two weeks. Flyfishing mostly. I've never been in the fall, what flies should I be packin'?
I'll have a few spinfishermen with me, what should I tell them to bring?

I have done well in the fall throwing various streamer patterns. Muddler minnows, buggers, and zonker's will produce fish.

As far as for your friend... RAPALAS. Brown and rainbow trout patterned countdowns will catch many fish. I also score quite a few fish with black marabou jigs with a black head. Night crawlers work too (jk.... [] artificial only []). Lastly black or green tube jigs bounced through the deep holes do well. Make sure that you don't used scented ones though.

Can't speak for the spin fishing side, but you'll have a good time with dry/dropper combos still. Fish something bigger for the dry (ant, hopper, cicada etc) and drop smaller midge or baetis nymphs and emergers behind that. Just vary the depth of the dropper depending on the depth the fish are holding.

You'll also find a good fall Baetis hatch too, so that can be fun. Bring dries, nymphs and emerger patterns for these. WD-87's, Barr Emergers, Thorax duns, etc etc.

Stripping streamers and buggers can be fun too this time of year.

I guess last resort you can even dredge nymphs deep. Try a Barr Emerger, Scud, Yong's special etc.

I have heard explosives work well but i have never tried that, however it would be fun ... pull pin toss duck and than big explosion.

[cool]For the spin fishermen I'd recommend Rapala Huskyjerk in size 10 or 12's. Colors would be the rainbow trout pattern, chub, or the silver and blue one. Those should do well if fished right. Panther martin spinners ain't bad either. My favorite in that type are the gold blade/body with black and orange yarn below the treble. Good luck!

I fish the green quite often, and at this time of year (one of the best for larger fish) the browns go into pre spawn very agressive mode, therefor any thing resembling a minow is most efective , thats what I would stay with whether fly chucking (streamers, muddlers as mentioned) or lure chucking, (try countdown repalas in rainbow,blue/white/bronze/white,black/white, and brown paterns, attach repala with no swivel or any thing else, only the repala) use the line attachment on the paper that comes in the repala box. Jakes lures are also very effective at this time of year. And don't neglect the c section in browns park (the best section in my humble opinion) If you like duck/goose hunting the c section makes for a very fun cast and blast trip (Hard to decide whether to hold your pole or your gun at most times) Good luck, and give us a report

Yes , the c-section is actualy the most wadeable of all the sections, You also have road access to 15 or so miles of the river. If you go down there is a great camp ground across the bridge from the jarvie historical ranch. If you camp there take the road that goes on top of the hill and turn right at the first cross road. This road will dead end at a small parking area trailhead. Drop off the hill toward the river, But resist the temptation to fish right there(It looks like great water, however you will burn vluable time missing the best area upstream.) take the trail upstream 1/2 mile or so to where the river forks arround the island (not the island and fork directly below the parking) there is a very deep hole downstream for several hundred yards that is excellant repalla and lure water. and upstream for the next mile is excellant wading and fly water.. The browns park valley is very filled with wild life and scenery as well. And you will likely only see a few waterfowl hunters and very few fisherman. The stretch of river consistantly produces very large browns . (95% of your catch in the c-section is usually browns). After hitting the upstream section mentioned above, follow the same directions but turn left on top of the hill at the same inter section until you see the road to the left along the fence 1-2 miles , take that road down the hill and fish that entire section , also an excellant large brown area with varying types of water.
