Strawberry and the Middle Provo
#1
I got to the berry about 10 am this morning. Launched my tube in the Haw's Point area(42 degrees) and tried my luck with flies. I always here it's so good in the fall, but I only had one soft strike. I have never done that well flyfishing at the berry and I don't know why, but put my in a boat with a tube jig and I can rip em'.

So, freezing in the 32 degree weather with blowing snow, I decided to head home. I wasn't ready to quit yet, so I stopped at the Provo in Heber. Amazing Baetis hatch, but very small flies. I caught 5 fish in 2 hours, and missed at least that many.

Strawberry is the most frustrating lake in the state because it can be hot one day and cold the next. The fly fishing has been off lately, but if you keep trying you will have a 20 fish afternoon up there on the basic black and olive buggers. White has been good also lately. You have to put in the time at the berry and just hope you catch that lake on a good day.
