It's usually got just a couple of inches of ice by the weekend AFTER Thanksgiving.

Last year my wife and daughter and myself fished Strawberry on Thanksgiving day...in our boat.

Even Strawberry didn't have any ice on it at all by then. It did 2 weeks later though.

I used to N.ot have E.nough T.ime O.ff to go fishing.  Then I retired.  Now I have less time than I had before. Sheesh.

The nights are cold enough but could use lower temps durring the day time. The arm by the dam is first to freeze. Several years ago my brothers and I went a little closer to the open lake until the ice started breaking off in large sheets and floating away so be careful. We are planing to take both ice and regular gear this year.

The last 2 years Scofield has not been ready for turkey day. However the 3 years previous to that it was fishable on Turkey day. Maybe this year it will be ready....If not there are other lakes fairly close by that should be ready by then.

I did some searching today to see when fuzzy walked on water last year. The reports was the week of the 14-21st and he and a few others were on Huntington and E lake.

Rob, I don't think that he or anyone else was on Electric Lake that early last year. Fairview Reservoir was the first reported place, up Fairview Canyon, that was fishable from on top of the ice.

Gonna have to get cold, but with some luck it will be ready. I'd say better than 50% chance of safe ice by T-day.

hey Brandon
long time my friend!

looks like it might not happen as soon this year as last year..

if i rember right me and coldfooter were the first ones on Scofield last year. and if i'm rembering right it was not tell somewhere in early december that it had safe ice..

as a rule i use it will be about 2 to 3 week after huntington frezzes.. then E-lake will be about 2 weeks after Scofield..
it's comeing we just got to give it some time..

[cool]Historically speaking, Scofield has generally had a good 3 inches of safe ice by Turkey Day, but the past couple of years, I don't think that's been the case. I'd like to fish it the day after T-Day this year because you chances of landing something over 20 inches is better there than at Hunington, but we'll see how it goes this year. I'm betting I'll have to head up to Hunington.

Most ice fishermen in Utah believe that there isn't good or safe ice fishing until Christmas or so, so SSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Don't tell the others![Wink][Tongue] It's actually kind of nice to have Strawberry all or mostly to yourself for the last two weeks of December, and I know there are a lot of others on this board that feel the exact same way...
