I would like the opinion of anyone who fishes ultralight regarding a reel. I'm torn between the Shimano Symetre, the Penn Captiva, and Bass Pro Shop Johnny Morris signature series. Best model for the money is my aim. I'm also a lefty, so it needs to be reversible.

I'll add my two cents here also. I have the Shimano Symetre and it is a very nice reel. Durable and very smooth. Don't worry about the reel giving you much of a problem at all. I have not fished with the other two reels mentioned, so, I can't truly compare them fairly.

Thanks--sounds like the Shimano is the ticket. Appreciate the feedback.

About four years ago I bought the 1000 model of the symetre. I have it on an ultra light rod with 4lb line. I have put it through a lot of abuse and it is still a smooth reel. Shimano does make good reels but do others. Before you buy the Shimano take a look at the pflueger (?spelling) president.
