O.K. now that it has hit the news and I know the minute you alls see it the wheels are going to turn. A small leak was discovered in the dyke on willard bay, the leak is under control but water is being released out of the north outlet. With that said, crrews are working on hauling in fill and repairing it so it doesn't happen again.
I don't really think this will be a problem but please do not come up and try and launch a boat on the lake. For the time being, probably through tomorrow you will not be able to get on the water. I am letting you all know this because I would much rather save you a trip than have to make you leave.
Thanks
Jeff

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks for the notice. How much water will be released and how much of a drop in water level will that create?[/#0000ff]

As of right now, I am not sure exactly how much water they are going to release. What I can tell you is that they have been releasing water since 6:00 p.m. on Monday and are currently still letting it out. The water has dropped some and to give you an idea the first floats on the boat ramp dock is high and dry. The good thing is that it was noticed fairly early, but they did plan for the worst. There is a track-hoe sitting on the north dike just in case they need to breach it in a hurry. Lets hope not. Also, they have been hauling dirt and sand with about 30 dump trucks.

Good info to know. I'm glad they found it early, and I hope the repair goes well.

[cool][#0000ff]There was an article in the Utah section of today's Tribune.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Seems there was never much danger of a complete dike failure, but they are going to be awhile getting the problem fixed. They also say that the water level will be dropped about 2 feet. Not good, but better than during the drought.[/#0000ff]

There was an article in today's Standard Exagerator too. According to that article, they'll be drawing the lake down 10 feet over the next month.
