Just got back from fishing the local ice pond and I finally iced a bunch of perchies and some 'gills too. The biggest 'gill was about 8", and some of the perch were nice sized too, but most of them where tiny...it's a wonder how they get the hook in their mouth! It was fairly fast action today.
A guy and his kid set up next to me and were icing some nice sized trout and largies. A lot of people ventured onto the ice this morning; all in all a nice day except a cold breeze that would kick up now and then.
Looks like the bite is finally on, fellas.

Good to hear. Hopefully I will make it up there with the next few weeks. Thanks for the report.

Hey Toby! Thanks again for those waxies you left me a couple weeks ago! It was nice to meet you and your wife!
I fished that spot when you guys left and caught a few perchies within 20-30 minutes. Great spot!

[black]Right on! Is the ice holding up after these warmer days? What is the ice thickness?[/black]

yeah the ice is just fine. I was also concerned about the warming trend, but the last couple of cold nights have thickened it up a bit. The ice was a good 6" or so this morning...with hardly any snow at all on the surface.

Sorry I missed you this AM, but got the BTF sticker!
Glad that you did better than me. Slowest day I've had on ice this year so far (now ain;t that a jinx). Kept one nice gill and one perch thinking I might eventually get enough for dinner. Put back a bunch of dink perch, a couple 14" trout, one 10" bass.

I saw on KSL classifieds that the Country Store in Mantua is stocking mousies and wax worms. So if you run out or don't have bait you can get it at the little store.
They also have the best selection of nickle candy I have ever seen in UT.

[cool]Where's this "Country Store" at? I've never seen anything but homes and that fat Mantua City cop that loves to hand out tickets. Could you give me a location please?
