Catching Carp on Sonars
#1
I was at a local (Utah Lake) fishing hole Sunday slaying the Bluegills. When I was leaving I saw some fish flopping on the ice next to a fisherman 100 yards away. When I went over to see what was flopping around, I was surprised to see 8 carp on the ice. When I inquired as to the bait used, he reeled in his line and showed me a pink sonar. He said in previous years he had only caught one with them while fishing for whities. While there he caught another one. The Carp were all hooked in the mouth.

[cool]Due to an experience I had last month fishing there, I'd say I know exactly where you were (even what you were fishing up against/next to), and where the other guy was fishing, and I could probably even describe what the guy generally looked like. I need to get back there. We couldn't get the 'gils or crappies to bite the morning we were there, but the night before our friend (CBR) ripped them good. Even caught a few largies too. I've gotta get back there soon. The day I was there, however, the guy (and about 10 others that spoke the same language as him) were ripping the white bass with those things, but by the time we gave up on the 'gils and moved over closer that way for whities, the bite mostly died. Those sonars are awesome little white bass catchers, but I didn't know that the carp liked them too!

[cool]Yeah, they are some type of lure. Made by Heddon lures who's famous for their "Zara Spook" topwater baits that they make for bass fishing. If you Google Heddon lures, you probably can find them on there. It's called a "Sonar Flash" I believe is the official title of it...
