Bear Lake Marina Cam?
#1
What do you guys think? I would love to have a internet cam looking at the marina and the ramp at Bear Lake. Even though I only live 18 miles away it would be great to log on and see if you could even launch a boat. I know anyone that has to travel like most of you folks could sure use one and maybe save a trip. Personally I'd be willing to donate up to $50.00 towards one. Maybe Bearlakefishguy could chime in on this? Plus look at the intertainment we could have watching them launch boats in the summer.[sly] Also not bad senery either.[Wink]

I like the idea. It could be entertaining to watch things there when you couldn't be there. You could also see who was all going out fishing from bft

[#002850]That's a great idea Bodine. You'll never know how many times I have asked BLFG or Fish1on if they had any idea what the marina looked like before making the long drive up there.

I just wonder how much it would cost and who would do it.[/#002850]

State Parks might be planning on doing it like it has at the other ramps (Jordanelle, Utah Lake, Willard Bay). Might be worth checking before you volunteer $$$$....

I agree 100% I would like them to buy it Lord knows they make enough money. At least I buy a yearly pass every year. Plus it is packed all summer long. Lets just keep this post going and see what comes up.

There is a system already in place, just need to add another camera location. The link will bring you to a bunch of cameras. I use the BL one to get snow level conditions and see if the lake is frozen over or not. Definetly helps me decide what gear to bring up every weekend i.e snow blower, ice fishing gear, or more beer! LOL

If there was a camera at the marina nobody would pm or email me anymore...[unsure][unsure] LOL

I can't find the other one that I had, might have been removed.

Now all we need to do is contact the appropriate folks and see what it would take....Yea the hard part! Any volunteers????

This will be happening soon. When exactly, I don't know. Its been in the works for over a year. They are also trying to have a water level guage that shows real-time data. Not that BL changes much from day to day, but its nice to know how much it comes up between your trips. Rockymountain power, BL state park, Bear Lake Watch, and others are all tying to get the funding together for this. Stay tuned and I will let you know how things progress this spring.

Jeff and anyone else,
I just spoke with the BL State Park this morning (1/10/2006) and they are supposed to have the camera up and going within two weeks! (Great timing out of coincidence with your post on this subject). They are looking for anyone (individual and/or business) to help with the cost of this to keep it running and staying running. For anyone that would like to help out with the cost of the camera, you can call the Bear Lake State Park at 435-946-3343 and tell them if you'd be willing to make a donation.

Right now they are changing out their Internet service from a satellite connection to DSL since the upload speeds needed for the camera were too slow with the satellite system. As soon as their new DSL is hooked up, the company that hooks up the camera will be coming to get it going.
