Best Way to Strawberry?
#1
[#002850]I am just wondering what is the best way to get to Strawberry from Ogden. I can't decide whether to go up 84 or towards SLC on I-15. Any recommendations?

(Can you tell I don do Strawberry much?)[/#002850]

If I were you I'd take I15 south to I80 East to US 40 south. Go through Heber and keep on going over daniels summit to the lake.

I-84 is a little longer distance-wise but less of a climb - you don't have to go up Parley's Summit. Less traffic that way and easier in my opinion if you're pulling snowmobiles, depending on the power of your pulling vehicle.
If you want to see urban sprawl, go I-15. If you want to see farm lands and a rural setting, go I-84. [Wink]

I have in laws in Heber and fish Strawberry all the time-- hands down if your in Ogden, go through Weber Canyon, Morgan, Echo, etc. You will always beat anyone going through SLC by 15-30 mins. every time. I tried about everyway possible and added it up many, many times.

From Salt Lake, the BEST way to get to Strawberry is:

...Call a Limo service to take you out to Airport #2. From there, get a Learjet to take you to the Heber airport. Have a chopper waiting, and it can drop drop you off right at your ice-shack on Strawberry. (if you planned in advance and had your servants set up your ice-shack for you)...

I guess thats the BEST way to get there, but I usually just drive up I-80 or up Provo Canyon depending on what mood I'm in, getting there fast or enjoying the scenery along the way. From my house in South Jordan, its a little quicker to go I-80. Sometimes I like to go up Provo Canyon for the scenery (Deercreek, Provo Canyon, etc.) Either way, turn right (south) on highway 40 to the Berry.
You end up going thru Heber either way.

From Ogden, I would go I-84 . Its definately a better drive. Wave as you go by I will be sleeping when you go through 'cause I have to work this weekend.[unsure]

I have GPS'd both ways and if I remember it's about 7 miles shorter the Parley's route and the time was about the same. Mind you that I live in Layton and need to head north about 5 miles to go up Weber Canyon. You can easily get slowed down either way going through SLC. On the weekends it's probably a few minutes faster up Parley's. The only time I decided to go up Parley's last year I got caught in a stand still climbing the hill in a snow storm. I definately prefer going up I-84. Less traffic and more scenic, got to see a half dozen bull elk standing on the middle of Echo Res. 2 years ago.

From the Ogden area its 6's but coming home I would rather take 84, the traffic isn't as congested. Parleys is like a race track, 84 is more kick back with seral hundred feet between cars. I always take 84 going up to strawberry and coming home unless I am meeting someone in the salt Lake area then I will take 84.
