Hey Neighbor.
Now that you have the perscribed combo it's time to put it to work.
Halibut love chasing things. 4 inch Krocodiles, 1oz lead heads with plastics and live bait.
4 inch Krocodile should be tied strait on the line with the Trilene knot or impoved clinch. Cast out in several directions. If you can pictue a standard wrist watch or clock, use the numbers as your guide to casting for the halibut.
Example: Cast at the #10 three times. Cast at the #11 three times. #12, #1, #2.
Once you get the hang of it then you can cast at 11, 11:15, 11:30 and so on. You can cover more distance this way and trigger a better strike since the Flatty will see the same fish pattern coming time after time.
Colors for the plastics would be Halloween, Herring, Channel Island Chovie, Catalina Chovie and during the Grunion Runs, you will obviously want to use the Grunion Patterns.
Write these down and take the list with you to the Big Fish Tackle store in Seal Beach. They will be glad to help you out with your purchase. Tell them that you are a member of BFT and they will usually give you some kind of discount. Let them know before they ring up the order.[cool]
