The Colorado Wildlife Commission will hold their March meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 in Denver at the Hunter Education Building at the Denver headquarters, 6060 Broadway, Denver.
The Commission will hear an update on elk management in Rocky Mountain National Park, and a draft proposal for a 3rd Pilot Landowner program in GMU 40. They will also be considering final changes to fishing regulations for several waters including the Blue River, the Gunnison River, Joe Wright Creek and Reservoir, the Pikes Peak North Slope Reservoirs, the Poudre River, the SanJuan River, the Swan River, Johnstown Reservoir and Saint Vrain State Park; and two citizen petitions relating to scopes and battery powered or electronic devices during archery season and mandatory bowhunter education. The Commission will discuss draft regulations concerning mandatory mountain lion hunter education, mobility impaired hunting licenses, Division properties, and scientific collection; and hear initial regulatory proposals related to management of feral pigs, and 2007 upland bird, turkey, and migratory bird seasons.

The Colorado Wildlife Commission is an 11-member board appointed by the governor. The Commission sets DOW regulations and policies for hunting, fishing, watchable wildlife and nongame and threatened and endangered species. The commission also oversees DOW land purchases and property regulations.
The Colorado Division of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for managing wildlife and its habitat, as well as providing wildlife related recreation. The Division is funded through hunting and fishing license fees, federal grants and Colorado Lottery proceeds through Great Outdoors Colorado.
