Which Knife to buy?
#1
[sly]so, my friend with a boat (priceless) is turning 50! I would like to buy him a knife for the boat. more of a folding knife maybe like a leatherman type with a pliers on it or something. Needs to be stainless. Any ideas......

X Tools are top notch, and don't have a huge price tag.

They have a variety of products: Pliers, fillet knives, de-hookers, boga grips, gaffs, etc....

Check out that link above. They are high visibility tools in neon colors. The tools also float and are 100% saltwater ready. As I purchase new equipment, I've been purchasing this product. I'm very happy with what i've got. [cool]

X tools are good as Tarpon4me pointed out. Although they do not have a folding device like you are looking for, there are several different toys(tools) to choose from.

Otherwise you could get him a nice Forshner fillet knive. I'm sure he would love one of those.[cool]

Check out the new Leatherman "Wave" model. Has knife, screwdrivers, saw, pliers, scissors, file, and just about anything else you might need. All stainless steel too. Almost indestructable. They're kinda expensive in stores, but if you go on-line or E-Bay you can pick one up for about $25.00.

Shop around and get the model with the attachments you like. They have tons of sizes and different blades to choose from.

In years gone by I used swiss army knives, but kept breaking them. Couldn't stand up to fishing pressures. Got a leatherman about 5 years ago and never looked back. I've now got several. Don't leave home without it. I find myself going to my pocket for my leatherman more often than I go to my tool box. The perfect gift for any outdoorsman.

[crazy]Went for the leatherman core. lots of stuff and locking blades. saw it in westmarine and then overpaid after making the girl behind the counter show me knives for quite some time. could have saved about $20 on line, but hey, i'm keeping west marine in business.
