While spending the weekend in Bicknell at the in-laws I decided to take a couple of my kids and go to Forsyth today in a small boat. We drove past Mill Meadow on the way and it is clear of ice, as was Forsyth except for one small patch floating around. We went to the upper end and jigged small maribou jigs and chucked kastmasters. Ended up boating around 15 nice brook trout. The best success was found in about 15-20 feet straight across from the springs that come in to the lake at the end of the shore road. We decided to keep 5 - 2lbers for dinner. I've forgotten how good fresh brook trout is, especially out of frigid ice-off water. Water temp is in the high 30's, both Mill and Forsyth are full - running over the spillways.
