[cool][#0000ff]You may tip your jigs with any non-game (unprotected) species...chub, sucker, carp, etc. However, cisco are found only in Bear Lake and may be used only in Bear Lake. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Here is a copy and paste of the wording from the proclamation:[/#0000ff]

You may not use game fish or their parts as bait. The following are the only exceptions to this rule:
Dead Bonneville cisco may be used as bait only in Bear Lake.

[#0000ff]There are other exceptions, like perch meat in some lakes, white bass in Utah Lake, etc. But...cisco at the Gorge is a no no.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You win the bet.[/#0000ff][/size][/#221e1f]

TD is correct. Bonneville cisco are off limits, however, there are several species of cisco. As I read the regs, Bonneville are the only species off limits in Utah, if somone were to bring in another species from elsewhere as bait (frozen dead of course) I believe there would be no problem.

[cool][#0000ff]Not sure about Wyoming. Utah is the state with all the wierd restrictions. Heck, I imagine you can use live kokanee in Wyoming.

[cool][#0000ff]No doubt about it, kokes cannot withstand a lot of stress and abuse. Belly up if you release them after a tough battle on light line...and squeezing their guts out while you twist the hook(s) out of them.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, it is a sure thing they won't live very long if you run a 10/0 hook through their heads and drop them back in with a heavy weight dragging them down. Not nice. Not legal.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I'll guarantee that if you could find some sardine sized kokes to fish live or dead that you would make friends with some big macks.[/#0000ff]

No,NO and No you cant use dead kokanee as bait. They are considered a game fish, and in Wyoming you can't use game fish as bait. Now as for cisco,I don't know if they could be used at the gorge or not.
