The Natural Resources Commission approved the 2007 waterfowl hunting regulations at its August meeting. Changes from 2006 include hunting season dates, a decrease to 45 days in the Mississippi Valley Population (MVP) Canada goose zones, removal of quotas on the Allegan Goose Management Unit (GMU) and Muskegon Wastewater GMU, a five-bird bag limit for Canada geese in the late season, and a two-bird bag limit for canvasbacks.
"The DNR's Wildlife Division worked closely with the Citizens' Waterfowl Advisory Committee (CWAC) to draft season recommendations that balance the biological needs of responsible waterfowl management with recreational opportunities for hunters," said Karen Cleveland, acting DNR waterfowl and wetland specialist. "We would like to thank all the members of CWAC for their involvement and input."
