Lake Mead Sunday am.
#1
Sunday, 09/30/07- Hit the water early (4:00 am). Made the run to the fishing grounds in the dark, on smooth water, without seeing another boat. Poked around the back coves looking for shad. Tossed the net about a million times before catching enough to fish with. Looking to do a little live bait fishing.

Nice shad in the bucket before placement in the livewell.

The sun was up before heading to Sand Island. Boats everywhere today, running around looking for surface action. None happened. Soon boats arrived at Sand Island for the jig bite.

Part of the fleet jigging for stripers.

Live bait action was steady for 3-4 lb. stripers. Used the electric motor to stay over them. Sent shad down past 100 ft. several times to catch fish.

Ended up with 12 nice stripers and one left over shad. What a great day on the water!

P.S. This old wooden boat has surfaced in what's left of Las Vegas Wash. Wonder how long it was underwater?

WOW, nice job. I am gonna try this weekend. Hopefully I will have a fish finder on the boat by then. Looks like the shad is still where it is at. I am wishing I had purchased a fishing boat in the first place.

Thanks, live shad never seems to fail. I'm gonna keep tossing the net! Good luck!

Hey BaySport,

Do you think I can salvage and refurbish that boat?

Best regards,

Poor crawdads may not have a home if you tried! You might also get arrested for removing an artifact from a National Monument.[Wink]

Why is that? Did the boat belong to Mr. Callville? Or Mr. Overton? Or Mr. Hole 33?

Best regards,

Paul

Might have been President Hoover's personal yacht. [Wink] Maybe you should fund an effort to restore it.
