Surf fishing question
#1
Hi there all! Ok I´m very new at this
SURF FISHING
I whant to go surf fishing but use a couple of lures I recently bought.
My question is
how do I tie the lures? do I use a rig or just tie it to the main line. I really dont have any idea, I was searching the web for an answer but could not find anything. I really hope you could tell me what is the best way to use a lure when surf fishing. I have 2 sizes
a 4 3/4 inch and 6 3/4 inch. There not really heavy, do I need to put some weight on the line for a long cast? Thank you for your replys.

A lure is usually best when it is tied directly to the main line. We have a section on here for knots. You can tie it with a Palomar knot or a Rapala knot for best results.

It is not recommended to add extra weight. That could only change the way the lure was intended to be used.[cool]

ok cool ! then it´s better to surf fish with live bait so you could cast the line further with a pyramid sinker, right? thanks a lot

That is fine with live bait. The pyrmid sinker size will depend on how heavy the waves and tide are.

Usually 4 to 6 ounces at this time of year. Since we are getting closer to the 1st quarter of the new moon or Waxing Crescent, the six ounces will be better for holding.[cool]
