SMWIA Member Wins Texas Motor Speedway Trip and New Shotgun
#1
Compliments of Beretta-USA and the Union Sportsmen's Alliance

Nashville, Tennessee-On November 2, 2007, Mark Shughart, a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 2, and his wife headed to the Lone Star State for a weekend of NASCAR racing at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Shughart was entered to win the Texas Motor Speedway trip as a member of the Union Sportsmen's Alliance (USA), which partnered with Beretta-USA to award one lucky USA member with a fully-loaded prize package valued at more than $6,000. The package included airfare, three nights lodging, two tickets to the Craftsman, Busch and Nextel Cup races, VIP passes to the Beretta private suite, VIP passes for unlimited access to the garage and pit area throughout the weekend and, if that wasn't enough, a brand new Beretta Xtrema2 shotgun.

"Winning this trip gave me the opportunity to experience a NASCAR race first-hand in grand style," said Shughart who lives near a track but never had a chance to go to a race. "Being six to 10 feet behind the pit wall watching the cars fly by during the Busch cup race was unbelievable."

According to Patrick McDonald, VP of Sales and Marketing at Beretta, "We at Beretta recognize the importance of protecting the environment and our future hunting rights. By joining forces with the Union Sportsmen'sAlliance our message is even stronger.

"This venue was a great opportunity to honor one of the hardworking members of the Union Sportsmen's Alliance."

"Many sportsmen and women enjoy a little racing action as well as the outdoors, so we were extremely excited to partner with Beretta to award a USA member with a NASCAR dream trip and a fantastic new gun," said Fred Myers, Executive Director of the USA. "Beretta has been extremely supportive of the USA from the beginning. Now, they have stepped up to the plate again. We are proud to have Beretta on our side and look forward to working with them in the future to make membership in the Union Sportsmen's Alliance an even greater value."

The chance to win hunting and fishing gear, trips and special packages is one of the many benefits of the USA, a hunting and fishing club of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) and its 20 AFL-CIO affiliated union partners designed exclusively for union members, retirees and their families.

Shughart, a resident of Topeka, KS, missed the opening day of pheasant season in Kansas to attend the race, but said he is sure he can make up for it later with his new Xtrema2 shotgun. As an avid sportsman, Shughart added, "I would truly like to put an emphasis on union members joining the USA to help preserve what we've been able to do for hundreds of years"¦to hunt and fish. We need to keep these sports going for future generations."
